Wood Care Guide
Simple care for everyday wooden tools
- Hand wash. Use mild soap and avoid long soaking.
- Dry promptly. Wipe the surface, then allow every side to breathe.
- Store with airflow. Avoid sealing damp wood inside a drawer or container.
- Follow the product page. Oil, wax, coating, and unfinished wood can require different care.
Do not use a dishwasher unless the specific product page says testing has approved it. Stop using a tool that develops sharp splinters, severe cracks, or a persistent chemical odor.
How to use the Stirwell Wood Care Product
Always read the bottle label first. Use the product only when the label confirms that it is suitable for the wood and finish you are treating. If the bottle directions differ from this guide, follow the bottle.
- Start clean and dry. Wash the wooden item if needed, dry it promptly, and allow it to dry completely.
- Test a small area. Apply a small amount to an inconspicuous spot and check the result before treating the full surface.
- Apply a thin coat. Put a small amount on a clean, lint-free cloth and spread it evenly with the grain. More product is not better.
- Allow time to absorb. Follow the bottle label for contact or resting time.
- Wipe away excess. Buff the surface with a separate clean cloth so it does not feel wet or sticky.
- Let it rest. Keep the item in a dry, ventilated place and wait for the label-directed curing time before food contact or use.
When to care for wood
Use appearance and feel as your guide. If the surface looks dry or feels rough, check the product-specific care instructions. Do not apply care product to damaged wood, and stop using an item that cannot be cleaned properly.
